CROP CIRCLES 2010 - REPORT 38 / 39
Wickham Green (North and South of M4), Near Hungerford, Berkshire. Two Formations. Reported 30 - 07- 10 We visited the formations on day two after the first official report and had the opportunity to have a critical look at the south formation and take measurements. We were moved out of the north element soon after arrival - so only limited no close consideration was given. It was estimated that around 100 people had visited this formation prior to us, rendering a close ground inspection problematic. Noteworthy was the fact that all the laid wheat stems in the formation had their seed-heads rigidly straight, going with the flow of the crop. All the standing wheat in the rest of the field had seed-heads curled down towards the ground, and fully rigid in that position. If this south formation is just a couple of days old the effect with the seed-heads is an anomaly worthy of further consideration. As we were finishing our measurements of the south formation a lady introduced herself as the land-owner. She stated that the circle had been there on the ground for two weeks. Given the condition of the formation in general it was, as I said to the lady, highly unlikely that it was two weeks old. She then said it was about a week old. On the way out of the field we met the farmer who, when asked, said the circle was a few days old. Notwithstanding some unusual and very interesting effects in the laid crop, as well as the absence of 'standard' hoaxer damage, no determination can be reached regarding authenticity. Pending further investigation. UPDATE: Later investigations showed the south element to be around ten days old at the time of our visit - making all ground observations more or less redundant.

Hi Charles, I saw the Wickham Green formations on your site and the diagrams of how they create a face. I don't think that the method used to arrive at a portrait is correct. Attached is a graphic I prepared which merges mirrored individual version. of both formations with South on top of North and Gaussian blur applied. Possibly the Shroud of Turin face or that of your Sir Isaac Newton given prominent nose and curly wig. I hope you can post this as I think it's closer to the mark.
