REPORT
Milk Hill. Near Alton Barnes, Wiltshire.
Reported June 21 2009. Phase 3 REPORT - JUNE 30 The overall length of the latest addition to the Milk Hill formation is formidable. Although not measured on the ground, I would estimate ‘Phase 3’ to stretch to a total of 800 to 900 feet in length. All the ‘shapes’ are close to one another, with no more than 3-4 feet distance between them. All the downed plants were laid straight, with no evidence of bending or elongation of nodes. The lay was uneven, being lightly brushed over in some places, but pressed over firmly near the base of the stems in others with little breakage, ensuring large areas of crop lay tight against the ground. The soil was dry and friable and the plants free of mud. A significant number of crushed and creased stems were evident within the various shapes. Some crease marks ran parallel across several stems. Several well constructed and neat central swirls were evident, although other smaller circles displayed plants squashed heavily but chaotically against in the ground.
